"Nakkal Thilagam"

After every hectic day in office (don’t ask me what I do ;)) I look to one person to recharge my batteries. He is none other the legendary comedian Sir. Goundamani. If you happen to watch any of the Tamil channels after 10pm you would definitely come across Sir Bell. Every time I watch his comedy scenes it grows manifold times on me. I really get awe of his indomitable timing sense and dialogue delivery.

Here are some of my favourites of the Hon. Bell sir (Not in this order)

Karakattakaran : Who can forget this movie? This movie ran for 365 days continuously and everyone knows why it ran for.

My pick is : Ada enn da, antha cinema karanga than ipdi thangaluku thange poster adichi ottikurangana neengaluma? Ada athuvathu parava 35 vayasu mela poranugalannu patha poga maturanga…..

Awesome nakkals and timing sense. Oh my God, I can see it all day. Special Kudos to Senthil’s appavi look. This is definitely a landmark movie in Tamil cinema and I can still remember each and every scene evenafter20 years.

Next in line is Singaravelan. When two legends in comedy combine what else do you get other than rib tickling, bone breaking, jaw dropping, and teeth cracking humour! If there is a movie that I can watch infinite times without getting bored, then it has to be this one.

All the scenes involving Kamal and Bell sir just brings the roof down. To me this one of the best comedy movies ever made in tamil cinema. My pick is when kamal says why he came to Chennai, our sir says, “ enna latchiyam. Ithu allava latchiyam.. Ama unga oorle oru ponnu pathu kalayanam pannikita unga latchiyathuku iluku varuma?” ROTFL.

Then comes another fav of mine. “ Maaman Magal” This satyaraj and Sir bell’s combo is another masterpiece. Infact iam a huge fan of this combo and Iam almost 90% of Tamil nadu would be mad of this combo. Most of us believe the Bell & senthil’s pairing is the best comedy pair but I feel this Satyaraj and Bell pair is a notch better. Iam an addict of this pair and hope to see this pair again. J

Other than these, I love almost all the 80’s comedy of Sir.Bell be it the All in All Alaguraja or the Pattuvathiyar Pavadasami or the inumerous characters that are delight to watch even after two decades.

When every kiddo entering Kollywood comes with up with a “Thalapathi” or “Star” title its really sad to see that our very own Bell sir being without any. As an eternal fan of this living legend and doctor of laughter therapy Iam proud to coin the title of “ NAKKAL THILAGAM” to our beloved sir.

Now, here is a small imagination, Me meeting Bell sir, to convey the news about this title.

Me : Ayya, Unga kalai sevaiya munitu ungaluku unga rasigaral agiya nanga pattam koduka porom.

Bell Sir: Adang goniya.. Pattama?? Vaal veichatha veikathathua?

Me: Ayya , naanga sonnathu kaathadi ilanga, title..

Bell sir: Apdiya da mang kotta mandaiya, munna ellam padathuku than title veipeenga ippo manushanukey veika arambicheetengala? Enna da athu title?

Me : Sir, Athu vanthu… Athu vanthu…

Bell Sir : Seekram sollu da idiyapam vaiyaa..

Me: Nakkal thilagam saar..

Bell Sir: Vaada Berika mandaiya, unna than da theyditu irundhen. Naan enna Naaiya nakkurathuku? Ithu munnadi naan yaara nakkunen? Ila nee than naan yarachum nakkurathu pathuthiya? Ethana peru da ipdi kelambi irukkenga?

Me: Sir Athu vanthu…

Bell sir: Dai, olunga odidu peru veikurangalam peru.. Nakkalu, vikkalunnutu…

Me: !!!
